The Gaucho Derby - Patagonia · 3 March 2020

Story

Hi, we are Laura Redvers and Louise Daly (The Ledbury Ladies).

We are off to undertake the greatest test of horsemanship and survival skill on Earth - a 10-day 500km multi-horse adventure race called The Gaucho Derby, over some of the world's toughest terrain in Patagonia.

It won't just test our skill on a horse, but push us to the limit of our navigational skills, our ability to handle the wilderness and our physical endurance.

Most nights we will be camping out with our horses hopefully hobbled together. On some of the stages we will have a pack horse to carry food for our horses when we are in the middle of nowhere!

Laura and Louise are the only two 'Derby Virgins' in the race as all other competitors have competed in one, if not more, Mongol Derbies.

We have both funded this trip ourselves but will be also donating to the approved local charity of The Adventurists, 'Cool Earth' which is a charity that works with local people to halt deforestation and climate change.

Any support would be hugely appreciated.
