Story
We (Leann & Kristy) are running the October Barnstaple half marathon in support of Children’s Hospice South West.
We’ve cheered, supported, whooped and clapped from a distance whilst our husbands ride, sweat and cry across three counties in the annual Ride For Precious Lives event and raised a phenomenal amount of money for CHSW.
I (Leann) watched on in admiration and then sent fundraising idea after fundraising idea to Kristy trying to persuade her to join one with me (not cycling 215 miles!). Barnstaple’s flatness sealed the deal in the end.
Why CHSW? The same reason Ryan and Matt have cycled with Team Brown. We’ve known Mike and Nicky Brown for a few years now and listening to them talk about the amazing support they received through Children’s Hospice South West is more than inspiring.
Mike and Nicky’s eldest son Oliver Brown, the bravest, cheekiest most mischievous boy was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer in 2016. Oliver sadly left the earthly side of this world on 2nd November 2019. He passed away peacefully at Little Harbour Hospice with Nicky, Mike and Benjamin at his side.
With little government funding, the hospice’s rely on the generosity of supporters to deliver the promise to ‘make the most of short and precious lives across the South West’.
Please help us raise vital funds for families to continue receiving free support and care.
We will be running come rain or shine. When it rains we’ll be looking out for the ever important rainbows which remind us that life can be beautiful even in the storm, definitely a life lesson learnt from the Brown family.
