What am I doing?
I am fundraising for NCT (National Childbirth Trust) www.nct.org.uk, the ’s leading charity for parents.
Why am I doing it?
Since becoming a parent myself, NCT has become my passion! I know how wonderful becoming a parent is, but I also know just how very hard it is, too! NCT supports thousands of parents every year through this challenging period of transition – from pregnancy through to early parenthood. NCT offers a wealth of evidence-based information and support to parents, through the provision of antenatal courses, postnatal courses, support groups and help-lines.
What am I doing?
I have been so inspired by the work of the NCT that I have decided to train to become an NCT Antenatal Teacher. An Antenatal Teacher facilitates courses for parents-to-be and it will be my job to provide these parents with the knowledge and skills to make informed choices to have the birth they want and to be the parents they would like to be. The courses also provide an opportunity for parents to meet others and to form support networks and friendships that can last a lifetime.
I will be studying part-time (whilst juggling other work, parenting and NCT volunteer commitments) towards a university diploma in Antenatal Education. I expect to complete the training in 2 ½ to 3 years.
