Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Children’s Appeal aims to raise £1 million to create a bright, friendly and appealing environment for all children visiting our hospital and to give children and their families the best possible care and experience from the moment they arrive.
Every year, our Children’s services at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust treat over 10,000 children from just one-day to 19-years-old, for conditions ranging from breathing difficulties and broken limbs to mental health conditions. That’s a lot of children, plus their families, who will benefit from the changes we want to make.
Our Hospital Charity wants to fund the additional items, equipment and above and beyond finishes that will ensure our pediatric facilities offer a first class and inclusive environment. All children, including those with physical and learning disabilities or mental health conditions, will be able to move freely, feel safe, and have access to play activities and relaxation, whilst at the same time the improvements will also benefit parents and carers.
Your support will help us to fund things like virtual ceiling panels for daytime sunny blue skies that at night twinkle with thousands of shining stars. We want to give every parent a reclining chair so they can stay close to their little one. And because it’s a tough time for parents too, we want them to have their own break-out zone, where they can share a cuppa with other mums and dads and take comfort from one another.
Our aim is to give every child their own special place, making sure we have a dedicated safe space for children and young people in distress and providing parents of very young children with facilities so they can stay together in comfort. For older children, there will be TVs, games consoles and for younger children, stimulating new play equipment as the importance of play to well-being can’t be under-estimated.
