Story
This page is to ask you to please support the charity The Vitiligo Society in the wake of my dad's and my recent achievment of summiting Mt Everest and in doing so completing the Seven Summits. We'd really, really appreciate any donation, however small!
My dad, Mark Shuttleworth, and I set out aiming to climb the highest mountains on each of the seven continents five years ago, and finally succeeding in fulfulling our dream at 6:10am on the 20th May 2012 by reaching the summit of Mt Everest. It's been an incredible journey and a wonderful climbing partnership, and the support, friends and experiences we've had along the way have been incredible.
Accomplishing these summits made me the youngest British female both to summit Everest and to complete the Seven Summits. We also became one of the very few father - daughter teams to ever have completed the Seven Summits challenge.
So, why Vitiligo, and what is it? Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease of the skin that occurs when it loses the ability to hold onto its pigment, it's often related to severe self confidence issues and is even paired with leprosy in some cultures, resulting in grounds for divorce and unemployment. This is usually passed down through families and is permanent. Some people are born with it, others develop it later in life. My mum has vitiligo and is a member of The Vitiligo Society, and we want to support them in finding the cause and a cure for Vitiligo.
Please help us support this cause, it really does mean a lot, and you're money will be well used towards improving many people's quality of life.
