Leah's Marathon

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
In April 2018, I lost my beautiful mum to pancreatic cancer. She fought with courage and dignity but this awful disease overwhelmed her all too quickly and she passed just 3 months after diagnosis. Unfortunately, pancreatic cancer is incredibly hard to detect early and is impossible to treat once it reaches stage 4. Because of this, it is one of the deadliest cancers with one of the lowest survival rates and more than half of people diagnosed do not survive longer than 12 months. Pancreatic Cancer UK supports people with pancreatic cancer as well as funding vital research into this horrible disease.
In 2019, I shaved my head on my mum’s 1 year anniversary and I thought what better way to top that than to run the London Marathon to commemorate both her 60th birthday and 5 year anniversary in April 2023.
I have always been sporty but I’ve never been a runner and I know this marathon is going to challenge me in more ways than one. Not sure I’ve quite realised what I’ve signed myself up to, but I’m excited (and nervous) nonetheless!
Any donations, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for supporting me in what will definitely be one of the toughest things I have ever done!!
There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think about my beautiful mum. I miss her so much and strive to do her proud every day. Love you always, mum.
Thank you again for you support, I better get running!
