Story
My name is Sheila. I was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer (MBC) in July of 2015. I am a daughter, a sister, a wife and a mom of two amazing young adults: Ozzie, who just graduated college and Melanie, who is attending University of North Carolina in Greensboro and plays for the women’s soccer team. My diagnosis was a complete surprise. While stage IV breast cancer does not have a cure, I am determined to live a life with purpose. My purpose is to bring joy to others, to bring hope and showing by the way I live that you can conquer your dreams and make a difference in this world regardless of your circumstances.
I know firsthand how important it is to have access to resources and support to navigate the ups and downs of living with breast cancer. I recently became a Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) Hear My Voice Outreach Volunteer. As a volunteer I use my personal experiences with stage IV breast cancer to raise awareness and understanding about metastatic breast cancer. I am also raising awareness about LBBC free services, information and support that help ensure no one living with breast cancer feels uninformed or alone. Donate today!
