Story
I have just completed a mammoth 1024 mile, 2 week cycle ride from London to Barcelona raising money in memory of two of my closest friends, Lawrence Matz and Laurence Beresford. Both of them went that extra mile in life and as I hoped, my epic journey inspired donations in line with the immense effort required to accomplish it.
Please take time to look at the PHOTOS and VIDEOS of my arduous journey!A year of intense training helped me to the finishing line, but despite this I still found it extremely challenging and painful, although it has to be said, it cannot compare with the pain and suffering my two brave dear departed friends had to endure.
A huge THANK YOU for all your generous donations. For those who have not yet donated, it's not too late! Please do something amazing and support my efforts by making a donation so others may have a better outcome than the two Lols. It would be so greatly appreciated.
Lawrence had a unique gift of being able to make everyone feel as though they were the special one. The life and soul of any party, he would always stand out in the crowd. Nothing was too much for him and for his Princess Gloria, his two boys Mark and Adam, family and friends, he would do just about anything for them. He lived every day like it was his last, cramming more into his all too brief time with us than most of us can expect to achieve in a lifetime. He enriched so many lives with his vibrancy, charm and love and will never be forgotten. For me, he really was like the brother I never had.
As engraved on his memorial stone, he taught us all the true meaning of courage.
Since its foundation in 2010, Lawrence was one of the inaugural supporters of Breathing Matters, a UCLH Charity fund set up to raise awareness and to find a cure through research in the Centre for Respiratory Research for pulmonary fibrosis and infection. This fund was close to his heart.
We sadly lost Lawrence at the age of 58 to pulmonary fibrosis and want to fight for a cure for this cruel disease. You can read more about the work of Breathing Matters at www.breathingmatters.co.uk
