Story
In September, my family's life was turned upside down. Out of the blue, my mother-in-law, who has lived just about the healthiest life you can imagine, was diagnosed with advanced stage bile duct cancer.
Cholangiocarcinoma is, in my very humble opinion, the worst of all cancers. It hides away without symptoms, almost undetectable, until it is significantly advanced. If I can be afforded the liberty of doing so, then I'd call it a cowardly cancer. Luckily for us, and unluckily for it, my mother-in-law is incredibly brave. So while she's busy fighting it, I'm taking to the roads to raise money for AMMF. They are the UK’s only cholangiocarcinoma charity, and the information we have gotten from them is invaluable. I hope that their work will mean that ways are found to detect this cancer earlier.
I haven't run 13 miles since my twenties but, on my 39th birthday, I'm giving it a go again. Let's see how far these arthritic knees take me.
Your support is more appreciated than you could possibly know.
All best wishes
Lawrence
