Story
Hey! Thanks for checking out our JustGiving page.
As you probably know, Lee has Behcets syndrome which is a rare autoimmune disorder resulting in inflammation of the blood cells and a whole host of weird and not-so-wonderful symptoms. There’s still little research into Behcets and with limited knowledge on what causes it, treatment is patchy and very much experimental.
So, this year Ben and Lee are taking part in the Behcets 2021 fundraiser - Behcets to the Beach - to help raise funds for some much need research. We will be walking 1114 miles (that’s 1793 km) on a virtual tour of the best beach in each of our four lovely nations have to offer. The virtual start line is the Behcets UK registered office in London and we will visit West Wittering beach in England, Harlech beach in Wales, Whiterock beach in Northern Ireland and Luskentyre beach in Scotland. We have until the 30th September to complete the virtual walk - this works out at roughly 6 miles or 10km per day. Now I know there will be some of you out there that think this isn’t much, but as Lee has been shielding for the last year and barely set foot outside, and with the inevitable ‘covid weight’, it will indeed be a big challenge for both of us. Therefore, any donation you can afford, no matter how small, will give us a huge amount of encouragement and help us on our way to our target. In return, we will give you a massive heart felt thank you (and buy you a drink when all this covid nonsense has passed).
