Story
I am running the 2022 Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 2 October. I'm not a natural runner at all, but this one isn't really about me...
In February 2022 my wonderful friend Areesha passed away having been diagnosed with a brain tumour only 11 months earlier. I could happily talk to people about Reesh for hours, but one of the main things I always tell people is that she said yes to every opportunity that came her way - even if it was a bit scary. She lived life fully and without fear and really made the most of every day she had. As her friends, we've all agreed that we need to #BeMoreReesh.
So, inspired by that, and with a view to supporting much-needed cancer research - especially given how under-resourced and under-researched brain tumours are - I am running the Cardiff half marathon as part of Team Cardiff.
This is going to be a massive challenge for me. Aside from doing Couch to 5k in autumn 2021 (after which I firmly returned to the couch!) I haven't done any running - and certainly not anything over 5k/30 mins. But, I am determined to do Reesh proud and to raise as much as I can for this important research to continue. My lush pal Donna has agreed to run this with me (what a gem) which will massively help with motivation, but your donations and support would be greatly appreciated too.
