Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Hanna family and friends are taking on the Royal Parks challenge in memory of my Grandfather, Cobalt Unit founder, Dr Fred Hanna.
In 1964 he founded the Cobalt Unit Appeal Fund. Since then the charity has grown and grown and now focuses on medical diagnostic imaging. It invests in equipment, research and education to help patients locally have access to the very best medical imaging for their diagnosis. The Cobalt scanning centre in Cheltenham stays at the forefront of diagnostic imaging technology. Cobalt sees over 65,000 patients a year at the Imaging Centre in Cheltenham, and at the Institute of Translational Medicine Imaging Centre in Birmingham, and with their mobile MRI scanners that travel nationally.
I have many childhood memories of seeing Fred continuing his fundraising work at the Cobalt Unit charity with enormous energy and dedication – well into his eighties.
To maintain Fred’s work and continue his legacy, 12 members of the Hanna family will be running the Royal Parks half marathon on October 14th to raise money for Cobalt.
Those who know me know that running was once a passionate pursuit - but life events took over these last few years and running fell by the wayside. So this year has been all about regaining running form and it has not been easy....
