In August 2021 I will be swimming the English Channel as part of a relay team, the "Aspire Bulldogs". Our attempt will be an official crossing meaning no wetsuits (because buoyancy and warmth are cheating....) and will include crossing the worlds busiest shipping lane, dodging jellyfish (of which I am reliably informed there are copious) and battling tides. The direct distance between Dover and France is 22 miles, but with tide and weather, we could end up covering anything up to 40 miles. Sounds fun, right?

I am swimming for Aspire, an incredible UK based charity providing practical support for those with spinal injuries. Roughly every 4 hours someone in the UK is paralysed from a spinal cord injury. A pretty terrifying statistic and as someone who has always loved being active, its not something I take for granted. It can really can happen to anyone at anytime. Aspire provides practical and financial backing to help those with spinal cord injuries get back to independent living.
