Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In January 2019, we lost Barrie Ryan - our lovely dad, husband and grandfather - to motor neurones disease. It was an absolutely devastating time for us all. He was the most fantastic person I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing and we all miss him every single day. He lived just 20 months after his diagnosis and while we feel enormously grateful to have had that time with him, it was horrifying to see how MND took over his body and made each and every day incredibly hard, almost impossible. The nightmare continues for many people and their families as there is no cure for MND. No hope. Treatment is limited and can only extend life by just a few weeks. To that end, I’m running the great south run with my friend Emily, in memory of my dad, and hopefully raising some money along to way to see if one day we can find, and fund, a miracle cure. I’m no runner - I actually prefer drinking wine on my sofa - but if I know one thing, it’s that my dad would have loved to run this race - views of the sea, looking across to the Isle of Wight (the place he loved so much) and I think I can probably run it for him. I’m kinda hoping he’ll be with me when I do. Somehow.
If you can spare a quid, then I’d really appreciate it.
Truly, thank you.
