Story
Being diagnosed with cancer at such a young age is utterly heartbreaking! But Teenage Cancer Trust are amazing and provide so much support to help you feel the most comfortable through your cancer journey.
They have special TCT units in local hospitals, which are all decorated nicely, and have facilities which makes you feel like you’re not actually in hospital. I spent alot of time on the TCT unit and it’s lovely! The retreat for young patients to go in and interact with other young people, is amazing. It has a telly, PlayStation, a juke box, pool table, a craft cupboard, a games cupboard. They even provide drinks and snacks for young people to go and help themselves too!
They organise and pay for events, such as FYSOT. Which was differently by far my favourite thing I did with TCT! The opportunities it opened, and to meet people who’s been through similar things, sharing stories and being able to just sit and talk to someone who knew exactly what you were saying, was fantastic.
They help fund other online workshops, and lots more!
A skydive is something I’ve always wanted to do, but never had the guts. But cancer really puts into perspective, you’re only here once. If there’s something you want to do, go and do it!
And to be able to do it for a charity who has supported me and continue to support millions of other young people going through cancer. Is truly a bonus!
