Story
As part of my journey as a Miss Scotland finalist this year I am lucky enough to be able to choose and dedicate my time and efforts to a charity of my choice. As a recipient of the amazing support and dedicated service the ECHC continuously provides to sick kids in Scotland it was an obvious choice for me.
As part of my process I will be:
- Running in the Edinburgh Marthon Festival 10k on the 25th of May!
- Hand-knitting scarves that you can buy for a £10 minimum donation (contact me for info!)
I was born with a severe club foot, spina bifida and a large leg length difference, my first surgeon assumed I would never be able to walk normally. My mum and dad took me to the Edinburgh Sick Kids determined for a second opinion. They assured her they would correct my leg...
Many operations, appointments, casts and splints later running and jumping into the Miss Scotland finals, I remain so incredibly grateful and ready to give back!
Many other children and families benefit from the care and support they provide, the facilities the ECHC provide make hospital experience both easier for the children and their families, making it as happy and positive as possible. Most of my memories of being in the Sick Kids are about the activities, the games, books, THE SEGA and the fun!
Help me to say thank you and support them in continuing to do this both in their new hosptial and in their research and work across Scotland!
I'd also like to raise awareness of the World Clubfoot Day (3rd June) - Club foot effects 1 in 1000 babies born in the UK - more info can be found at steps-charity.org.uk!
