Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After completing the London Marathon in 2012 I have once again signed up for a crazy challenge, this time on two wheels!
The Hero of Hamelin bike ride is a charity ride from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to Hamelin, North Germany - a total of 500 miles! Our team will set off on Saturday, September 6, 2014, on a route that will take us from Birmingham to Harwich, and from the Hook of Holland to Hamelin, which is set to take seven days.
The ride has a very special purpose. It will be in memory of John Reeve's son Tim who died of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in 2005, and it will also be celebration of Jonjo Rooney's life who survived one of the most aggressive forms of leukaemia after receiving a lifesaving bone marrow transplant. He was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and his donor is from Hamelin (which is why we're cycling from one to the other) and Jonjo is due to meet them for the first time when we arrive in the town - amazing!
The Hero of Hamelin bike ride is also our way of saying a big THANK YOU to two great charities - Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and the Anthony Nolan Trust - and it will promote the birth of a fantastic new charity for acute leukaemia patients, Bpositive (www.bpositive.org.uk) which John and Jonjo launched this year.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – they will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.
Thanks so much in advance for your support,
Lauren :)
