Hi, it's me again. So after successfully taking part in the 50km Thames Path in 2015, and being forced to pull out of the 100km London 2 Brighton at the 60km point due to having a severe stomach bug that I managed to hide from everyone until that point!!! I have decided to take on 3 challenges this year, starting off easy and going from there!
I'm self funding myself this year to do 3 walks. 20km Winter Walk (Jan 15th 2017) the 50km London 2 Brighton ( 2nd half, 27th May 2017) and the 100km Thames Path Challenge (9th/10th Sept 2017). I am self funding myself this time which means I don't have to have a target amount of money to raise for a charity as I've covered the whole cost of all 3 myself. I would however like to raise any amount of money for my chosen charity, Huntington's Disease Association, every little helps and anything raised will be a bonus, and not only will I appreciate it, so will the Huntington's Disease Association!
A little bit about Huntington's Disease for those of you who have never heard of it, or know very little about it. Huntington's Disease is an inherited disease that causes the progressive degeneration of nerve cells in the brain. There is currently no cure or 'effective' treatment. It has a huge impact on the person's functional abilities and can affect movement, judgement, awareness, thinking and behaviour. The person will eventually become entirely reliant on other people for their care.
I'm raising money for this charity as this disease runs in my family, with my nan being in the later stages of it. I would really like to raise lots of money for such a great cause.
Every penny raised helps with research and treatment and they are getting closer and closer to finding effective treatment and eventually a cure.
