Story
Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provides amazing care for people with life-limiting illness and who need end of life care. They not only care for the individual who is ill but support their family and friends throughout the life-changing journey.
As some of you may know, unfortunately my mum lost her battle with cancer in January 2018 after being re-diagnosed with cancer, this time in her brain. Arthur Rank cared for her for 2 months but also supported me and my family through it all and for that I will forever be grateful. They made mum feel as comfortable as they could, providing everything free of charge and continued to support us after. However, caring for people with such complex and challenging illnesses is incredibly expensive and when at Arthur Rank I realised how many people they could care for if only they had more money. For example, at the hospice only 14 of the 28 possible beds available were in use because of the cost it requires to care for patients 24 hours a day - this includes medication, food, nurses, activities, family support including counselling, advice and legal services.
On the 8th of March 2020 I am running the Cambridge Half Marathon, along side my step sister Charlotte, who will be helping me ever step of the way, not only in memory of my mum but to raise as much money possible for Arthur Rank. So please donate anything you can because any amount really does help!
Thank you,
Lauren and Charlotte
