I am hiking the Lake District Ultra Challenge on 10th June 2023 in support of Galgos Del Sol (GDS). It’s a 30km challenge with extreme inclines and declines from Kendal to Ambleside.

I have long been a supporter of GDS, and I adopted an abandoned Galgo in 2021. But in April 2023 I had the opportunity to visit GDS in-person to volunteer for 1 week, and I can personally vouch for the incredible work they do. 

So many people are unaware of the plight of Galgos and Podencos in Spain, and I hope this reaches those who might not have known about it previously. As a reminder, Galgos and Podencos are not covered by animal welfare laws in Spain, and between 50,000 - 100,000 are killed every single year after the hunting season finishes and they are no longer deemed useful. Tens of thousands more are tortured in ways too terrible to describe, or abandoned. This is unacceptable. Please support this cause and my ultra challenge to educate others, impact change in Spain, and save dogs lives.
