We provide expert care and support to young people with cancer

Story

There are approximately 7 young people who get diagnosed with cancer every day. Teenage Cancer Trust provides care and support for every young person facing cancer including specialist nurses and hospital units. They also run events and provide unique opportunities to allow the individuals to regain confidence and independence whilst meeting other individuals.

This is a charity very close to my heart and a charity me and my family have directly impacted positively from. My oldest brother Adam, was diagnosed with acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, thankfully after grueling rounds of chemo he has beaten cancer and is in remission. Throughout his battle, Teenage Cancer Trust was by his side throughout as well as providing support for the family. They provided many opportunities for him such as going on 2 sailing trips, visiting the Royal Albert Hall where he met many famous individuals and a holiday with his friend in Scotland. Having these experiences allowed him to meet people going through similar challenges and enabled him to connect and make friends, lightening the burden of the difficulties he was facing, giving him the strength to keep battling. As a family, Teenage Cancer Trust were always there and allowed us to not feel alone, they also provided us with a break away in Scotland in which is one of the most memorable holidays we have had as a family, with so many memories.

Cancer has affected my family several times and has unfortunately taken friends and loved ones. I wanted to challenge myself and run the London marathon in memory, whilst raising as much money as possible. Personally this will be one of hardest challenges but proudest achievement to date, after battling 3 ACL reconstructions and 5 knee surgeries myself, it wont compare to the struggles these individuals have to face on a day to day. Achieving this will be all worthwhile raising money to help provide the care and support for young individuals.
