Story
I would like to raise £1,746 (the year Culloden Battle took place, 1746) for the continued preservation and conservation of Culloden. Although I have yet to visit Culloden or the Highlands since moving to Scotland, my ancestral clan were Jacobites and lost their lives fighting for Scottish freedom. Tying together my love of Scotland, History, supporting good causes, fitness, and travel (I’ll be receive emails of locations along the march from Glenfinnan to Inverness), this should be a fun challenge!
- I’m currently recovering from a torn meniscus and have been encouraged to try and walk even more than I normally do to rebuild leg strength, so walking approximately 12,000 steps a day will be a fantastic personal challenge.
- I volunteer at two NTS location, Newhails as well as Gladstone’s Land, and really believe in what the National Trust of Scotland is doing.
- Although travel is difficult just now with these new strains of covid, I’m very much looking forward to virtually traveling to the Highlands and sharing with everyone!
*Modern housing developments are encroaching on the site where many hundreds of men fell fighting for a cause they believed in and invasive trees and shrubs could take over the site. Cullodens Fighting Fund was launched to fight developments, preserve the battlefield and develop our conservation grazing programme.
