Story
I don't want to give a sob story but real life stories help to give some perspective & the more money we raise to stop this horrible bloody disease the better!! So here goes...
Most of you will know at least some of what my Mums been through. Over the past four years my Mums battled firstly lung cancer & then a completely unrelated type of bowel cancer. I often felt useless, watching her go through pain, exhaustion, I've watched as her hair fell out & grew back, I've seen her get knocked down again & again & again & get back up again & again & again. Endless times I've been taken back by her strength & inspired by her positivity. Last year I went from barely being able to run 1k to running 10k for Race for Life, for my Mum. It's because of her I fell in love with running.
I always think of my Mum when I run, it helps me to keep going when I'm struggling, I remind myself that she was my inspiration for starting running in the first place. I think about how scared I was that we would loose her, how brave she is & how much I want to do anything to stop this bloody disease affecting people who are quite frankly too bloody lovely to have anything but happiness. This year I have therefore decided to train for the Race for Life HALF MARATHON. I appreciate for some people this may be a breeze but for me I have to train hard & it's going to be tough! My mums in remission from both lung and bowel cancer now, if you met her for the first time you would never believe the story of her battle; she looks absolutely incredible and she never tells people what she has been through. I want to raise money for her and so we can say #jogoncancer for good. Please follow the link & donate anything you can, thank-you...
