Story
Firstly, thank you so much for visiting my page and for sponsoring me.
On 25th September I will be joining in the London ‘Run to the Beat’ half marathon and I will be running to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and a special little girl by name of Cerys Pippa Durkin.
Cerys is my families close friends little girl who was diagnosed with a serious heart condition known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome at the 20 week antenatal scan.
This means that the left hand side of her heart is underdeveloped, this is a congenital cardiac condition that cannot be 'fixed' but can be made to work through a series of three surgical procedures that re plumb the heart allowing the right side to do all the work.
The first of these took place when Cerys was three days old at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London where she was transferred from the maternity unit at Addenbrookes Rosie Hospital in Cambridge. Without this operation Cerys would have quickly developed respiratory difficulties as the heart tries to pump oxygenated blood around her little body.
Cerys celebrated her 2nd birthday this week. She is now monitored by GOSH every four months, waiting for the next open heart planned to happen within the next couple of years.
She amazes us all with her strength and energy - she touches everyone she meets with her story.
Please sponsor me and help raise lots of money for this amazing little girl and for this amazing hospital.
Thank you so much
