We first found out about Beads of Courage when our youngest daughter, Laura, was undergoing treatment for kidney cancer at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.  Building up her story using the beads greatly helped her to communicate about her experiences and express her feelings.  The string of beads serves as a powerful visual reminder of all that she went through and never fails to make an impact, clearly illustrating how arduous cancer treatment is, particularly for a youngster.
