The Stroke Association - St. Patrick's Day Charity Abseil - Manchester Velodrome · 13 March 2010 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Hello folks, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This Halloween, for some crazy reason, I am abseiling the 120ft Cunard Building in Liverpool in aid of The Stroke Association. This is the first time the Cunard Building has been open for abseiling, which is pretty scary! Considering I'm scared of heights this will definitely be a challenge but I'm willing to give it a go!

Every year, an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. That’s one person every five minutes. Stroke is the leading cause of severe disability and the third biggest killer in the UK, after cancer and heart disease. More than 250,000 people in the UK live with disabilities caused by a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity solely concerned with preventing stroke and ensuring that everyone touched by stroke across the UK gets the help they need. You can get more information about the work they do through their website www.stroke.org.uk

The minimum fundraising target for this event is £85, but I'm hoping that with your help I can raise much more than this. Every little helps, and anything you can donate will be hugely appreciated!

Thank you,

Laura
