LAURA
Ok, so here goes:
I've felt the need to run this race for quite some time now. I owe Cancer Research a lot, and now after having my two children, I'm ready - and here's why:
Jean Taylor, my Mum, sadly lost her battle to breast cancer in 1990 - she was just 39. She left behind my Dad, Merv, and her two young daughters - Aimee and I. My Mum was robbed of a long life, and also the chance to see me get married, and to meet her three beautiful Granddaughters.
Then at the tender age of 18, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Luckily, I was successfully treated and I am now cancer-free. However, without the work of this amazing Charity I wouldn't have been so lucky.
Everyone knows someone who has had or has this disease. It takes over, destroys and shatters so many lives. Cancer.... Laura and Jenny are coming to get you!!
Special thanks to my best friend Jenny, for agreeing to run this race with me, and for her really lovely words. Thank you for your support, Jen!
JENNY
I haven't done Race for Life since having my first child, but have been inspired this year to run again by amazing friend, Laura, when she asked me to run with her for support.
Not only has she been forced to deal with the tragic loss of her Mum to cancer, but she was then struck by it herself. What could I say? Of course I'll bloody run with you in honour of your Mum, who I sadly never got to meet, and to raise money to kick cancer's ass just like you did!
I'll also be running for my Uncle Brian, and my Uncle Mike, and all the other brave people who have battled or are still battling cancer.
We will laugh, cry and probably look half dead, but we will run round that course!
Dig deep people, for my incredible bestie! xx
Gift Aid it!
