Story
On the 12th September I will be abseiling 450ft down the i360 for the Rockinghorse Children's charity! Who am I...
Rockinghorse is a Brighton-based charity that has been supporting children in Sussex for over 50 years. Their aim is to improve the lives of sick children throughout Sussex and are best-known as the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra children's Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton. They also support the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU) in Brighton and it's sister site, the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) in Haywards Heath. Rockinghorse fundraise to provide life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, additional services and items to ensure that young people are treated in an environment better suited to their needs.
I work as a nurse on the High dependency Unit (HDU) at the Alex and the Rockinghorse charity has provided us with fundamental equipment ie ventilators, to help us treat the hospital's most poorly patients. I am also a triplet and was cared for on TMBU and I want to give something back to the children and families I care for.
Rockinghorse doesn't receive any government funding and relies on the generous support of individuals, community groups, schools and companies and due to Covid-19 most fundraising events ie Brighton Marathon have been cancelled and Rockinghorse need donations more than ever!!
As many of you Know this is the biggest challenge I've ever taken on and would appreciate if anyone could donate.
