Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Students Partnership Worldwide will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
SPW is a youth focused charity (registration number 292492) that sends
young people aged 18 - 28 to work on international development, raising
awareness on health education, HIV/AIDS, and life skills education.
Volunteers work on these programmes as peer educators alongside national
counterparts in African and Asian rural communities for a
period of between 5 - 11 months.
I will be going to Uganda in July to work with SPW for 8 months on the Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP), and I am committed to raise £3,600 in order to do so. Part of that money will go toward sponsoring a young Ugandan volunteer to do the same training and programme as me, because one of the best things about SPW is that 80% of volunteers are from host programme countries – meaning that SPW’s work is uniquely sustainable and ethical in its approach. Along with my partner volunteers, I will be working primarily with young people to provide basic entrepreneurial skills, low-cost sustainable organic farming techniques, life skills, parent/child communications and greater awareness of sexual/reproductive health and gender-based violence. For more information on the programme, visit http://spw.org/volunteer_uganda.php.
In Uganda, one of the most beautiful but poorest countries in the world, SPW has been selected as the “lead agency” for Eastern Uganda in the national Young, Empowered and Healthy (YEAH) prevention campaign. Save the Children, CARE and World Vision have been selected as the lead agencies for other regions. SPW’s work is making a difference where it matters, and your donation could really help.
Thank you, so much, for you support.
