Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page.
In a moment of madness I signed up for the London Marathon ballot and to my surprise got a place! It has been something I have secretly wanted to do for a really long time and more specifically to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of my Grandfather Eric Foster. Because I already have a place in the race and not a charity 'bought' place, every single pound I raise will go directly to MNDA.
For those of you who don't know much about Motor Neurone Disease, it is absolutely brutal. Gradually the neurones in your brain degenerate interfering with sending the messages to different parts of your body. This means that gradually you lose the ability to walk, move your arms, talk, eat, swallow and breathe but that your brain stays entirely intact and you are totally aware of what is going on. Most people die within two years of being diagnosed but my Grandfather had one of the rarer types living almost another decade.
Throughout his fight with the disease the charity provided endless support to him and my Grandmother both moral and in the form of specialist help and equipment. For this reason I've always wanted to repay the help and contribute something both to allow them to hold further clinical trials and to provide similar help to other families in need. As a poverty stricken musician I know that money can be tight, so want to make clear that any donation no matter how small, is extremely appreciated! Also it will be just the boost I need to get me up that awful hill at Crystal Palace in the rain on long run Sunday mornings...
