Story
Thank you all - £8,500 donated, which trustees will double to £17,0000. You have far exceeded our target of £6,000 and will make a great contribution to funding the trauma training project. Trustees are happily poorer and incredibly appreciative of your support.
Trauma remains one of the highest causes of death and injury of young adults in the developing world. Which is why, following Laura's death at the age of 24 in a traffic accident in Uganda, we funded the introduction of the first trauma training course for doctors in Kampala's main hospital, working with Global Partners in Anaesthesia.and Surgery.
Over the next 5 years, again working with GPAS, we aim to fund the roll-out of this out throughout Uganda, training 500 newly qualified doctors a year, at a cost of US$120,000 over the period.
The Trustees Christmas Challenge is to raise funds for this project, AND FROM 3 - 9 DECEMBER EVERY DONATION TO THE TRUST WILL BE MATCHED BY THE TRUSTEES - SO THAT EVERY POUND OF DONATION GOES TWICE AS FAR.
Help us to deliver a project which will help to improve medical practice in Uganda dramatically and could provide a low cost blueprint for trauma in other developing countries.
