Story
I was diagnosed in September 2014 with a Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma in the left temporal lobe of my brain. Surgery was unable to remove all of the tumour and radiotherapy managed to reduce its size and swelling slightly but it will not go away entirely. My condition is considered terminal. My life expectancy is unknown, so I am taking each day as it comes and enjoying what I can of my life.
I retired early in August 2015, although I stopped work due to illness the year before.
Awareness and understanding are crucial. Perhaps if I had been more aware, and indeed considered healthcare professionals were more aware of unusual symptoms that are in fact indicative of a brain tumour, I may not be in the position that I am now.
I am not down or angry about my condition or my predicament. I'm not the type to go "Why me?" Why not me? Why anyone else?
Cancer, particularly the form I have is devestating for everyone involved and I know that eventually this will rob me of my life.
