Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As many know Laura suffers from various mental health conditions. Walking has become a solace in Laura's life. From being in a wheelchair for a couple of years when out the house to slowly building up walking again to where it's now used in times of distress as well as just to get outside. The 20 mile kilt walk seems apt to aim for. We definitely aren't at that distance yet but will have fun training and exploring new paths with our walks.

Trauma Healing Together based in Perth has supported Laura through group therapy and currently one to one counselling. Although counselling isn't endless sessions, it has been the most she has managed to get from a single organisation and with someone who she actually feels comfortable with and listened from.

The group work they do is 16 weeks of 2.5 hour sessions which can be a mixture of things like fencing, crafts, photography and cooking. Then the one to one counselling is 24 weeks of 50 minute sessions. There are follow up sessions three month, six month and annual check in sessions.
