Story
On the 21 September 2022 we are flying to Nepal to attempt a 12 day trek to Everest Base Camp for our honeymoon (which we were meant to do in April 2020 before Covid hit).
Everest Base Camp is approximately 5,364 metres (17,598 feet) above sea level on Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world.
Our challenge will require lots of training and will take 12 days of trekking for an average of 7 hours each day, with some days going up to 11 hours, at high altitude and extreme temperatures, through difficult landscapes and hanging bridges, with basic facilities and without even proper toilets.
The flight itself will also be quite scary as we will be flying on a small plane into Lukla airport which is known as the most dangerous airport in the world due to the altitude and its short, uneven runway between a cliff edge and wall.
The reason we are doing this is to challenge ourselves and to try and raise money for Maggie’s to help those affected by cancer.
This is something which is very close to our hearts having seen how cancer has affected our loved ones and how Maggie’s Cheltenham centre recently helped a dear family friend.
Maggie’s is a wonderful charity which has centres throughout the UK and provides free support and information to those affected by cancer.
All donations go directly to Maggie’s, as we have funded the trip ourselves, and any amount, big or small, will be very much appreciated.
Donating online through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure or we have sponsorship forms if you prefer.
Please help us reach Everest Base Camp and support those affected by cancer.
Thank you!
