The London Marathon

Fundraising for Epilepsy Society
I have decided to run the London Marathon having thoroughly enjoyed running the OMM back in October. This time round I will be raising money for the National Society for Epilepsy. In the UK one in 131 people have epilepsy, and 1 in 20 people will have a single epileptic seizure at some point in their life. Epilepsy is more than three times as common as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and cerebal palsy and in the UK there are over 1000 deaths from epilepsy each year.
As many of you know I have epilepsy. I am extremely fortunate that it is controlled with medication which means that I am able to drive, climb mountains and do all the active things I love doing. However this has not always been the case and may not always remain this way. I was very poorly for a a while and it took the Doctors a long time to get me on the right dosage of medication. I therefore know how difficult it can be to live with epilepsy and I am acutely aware that there is often a lack of understanding amongst the general public about the condition. I therefore want to help other people who have epilepsy and so am running the London Marathon to raise money for the NSE who provide information and support to people with the condition. They also have a research programme and are striving to produce new medications and cures for the condition.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National Society for Epilepsy will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you very much for your support.
