Story
Hi everyone, I’m taking part in the 99 miles in November challenge for the brain tumour research charity. I’m hoping to raise vital funds and awareness for brain tumours. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. I’m hoping to raise £137 which represents 5% of the cost of a day of research.
My lovely Martin died from the most aggressive brain tumour Glioblastoma. He went through brain surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, unfortunately none of these were successful against this deadly cancer. He was poked and prodded for months, he had to take endless medication, and had countless seizures, we then started to receive bad news after bad news but he never once did he complain about what he was going through. In 16 months he was gone.
Martin had few symptoms leading up to his diagnosis and never once did it occur to us that he had a brain tumour, in fact he had 2 tumours. This disease is incredibly cruel and relentless. Martins passing has left a huge hole in our lives.
If you could donate anything it would be greatly appreciated, walking 99 miles in a month is nothing compared to what our wonderful, kind, funny, caring husband and father went through.
