Supporting the fighters. Appreciating the survivors. Remembering the fallen and never, ever giving up hope!

For those of you who don't really know me, this is my first race for life and clearly I'm not just testing my limits,  I'm damn well diving head first.  Interesting really since I hate exercise and obsessed with eating. It's my version of swearing! Yet here I am, doing a frickin 5k run! But as you read on, you'll understand why!

Over the years I have watched those I love suffer and eventually lose the battle because it was too late! I have held their hands during those final moments. I have screamed for joy when they have received the 'good news' after fighting for so long. I have hugged those who had lives their lives torn apart from a loss, if only it takes the pain away for a little while. I too have experienced the numbness you feel while your is world crumbling down around you because you are too young or its happened too often. Now I wait every year to be told it's my turn to fight!

I count myself lucky. My genetics may work against me but operations and annual medical checks have helped me so far! However, I am still fighting for the future because one day, it could all change. My mum, gran and great aunt are just three examples of this. It is not just mine or my daughter's future, but for everyone! I want to help parents have a chance to see their children grow up. For every child to be loved and showered with affection. Partners to have more days together, showing each other how much they are truly loved. 

Imagine it is you that has been given that extra chance because of someone else's support.  Science has progressed but it is yet to find a cure! One day we'll get there but until then- Please help us today... every little helps!   :-)
