Story
July 2022 will be my first born, Eli’s, 10th birthday.
Most of you know that Eli was stillborn at 36 weeks.
Nick, mine and our families lives were changed forever in that moment. Nick and I had our dreams shattered and faced that heartbreaking moment of leaving the hospital and coming home to a house that was ready for our baby but without our baby. Our parents lost their grandson and our bothers and sister lost their nephew.
I personally didn’t know how life could go on but the world doesn’t stop and now here we are almost 10 years on.
As a family we always mark Eli’s birthday but I knew for sometime that I’d like to do something bigger to mark his tenth, 2 digits is a big deal right!?!
So my sister, Chloe, and I are embarking on the Sands Snowdon Sunrise Challenge (https://www.charitychallenge.com/expedition/3512/Sands-Snowdon-Sunrise-Challenge-#tabs ) on 21 May. We will be walking up Snowdon overnight and reaching the summit at sunrise, before coming back down.
All money raised will be going to Sands.
Sands exists to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, to improve the bereavement care received by parents and families, and to promote research to reduce the number of babies dying. Everything Sands do – the services they run, the public health messages they promote, the way they raise money – is focused around these three aims.
Thank you taking the time to checkout our fundraising page and if you’d like to sponsor us then that would be really appreciated and help us get up that mountain (and back down again!).
