Fundraising for Diabetes UK
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This September I will have been Type 1 diabetic for 30 years. To mark the occasion I am undertaking the Million Step Challenge to raise money for Diabetes UK in recognition of all the support I’ve had from hospital healthcare teams and the charity over the years. It’s extraordinary to reflect upon all that has changed over the three decades I have have been managing diabetes. I feel extremely fortunate that I am now able to take better care of my condition through the latest healthcare technology as the proud user of an Omnipod insulin pump plus a Freestyle Libre continuous blood glucose monitor. I have also been able to undertake a DAFNE (dose adjustment for normal eating) training course which helped the management of my diabetes. All of these things have been supported by research and development funding plus campaigning by Diabetes UK which is why I now wish to raise money in recognition of these life-changing devices and schemes.
