Story
I work at Agatha Christie's holiday home, beautiful Greenway, managed by the National Trust, in South Devon. Following in Agatha’s footsteps and as part of the National Trust's 125 fundraising campaign (125 years of the National Trust in 2020), I pledged to walk 125 kms through places linked to Agatha Christie.
A 125 km trek through Jordan to Petra (inspiration for Agatha's 'Appointment with Death' and 'Murder in Mesopotamia' and where she and husband Max carried out archaeological expeditions) was originally scheduled for March 2020, rescheduled for October 2020 then March 2021, then October 2021... It was with a heavy heart that I finally decided to stop waiting for this expedition to take place and have decided to honour my pledge by UK based challenges. I completed a virtual trek to Petra (using kms completed training and running the London marathon) and walking between 4 National Trust properties in South Devon, including Agatha Christie’s Greenway! Please see updates below…
Whilst being on furlough in 2020 I spent much time on long walks around beautiful Devon, the coastline and Dartmoor. The pandemic has highlighted how important our outdoor spaces are and connecting with nature. The National Trust does an amazing job looking after all the places and spaces it looks after.
Thank you for your support to help look after our special places, for everyone, for ever.
