This will be my 5th year volunteering with the Derby Winter Nightshelter. Over the past 5 years I have volunteered alongside a group of amazing people providing a safe, warm environment for the homeless people of Derby throughout the coldest months of the year.

This year I will be joining the sleepout for the first time, braving the elements to raise money so that the Derby City Mission can continue this essential winter provision in the city.

It costs £100,000 to run the Nightshelter for 4 months (Dec- March)

£20 would provide a sleeping bag for a guest

£15 a rucksack for their belongings

£2 for an evening meal and breakfast

£10 a mobile phone to help them keep in contact with employers, accommodation options, and benefits

£700 would pay for the Nightshelter for one night - it is open in total for 121 nights
