Story
Our amazing, selfless, caring mother Linda Macfarren passed away peacefully with myself (Laura) and my brother Luke, by her side on the morning of Tuesday 15th February 2022 having just turned 69.
Mum’s wishes are to not have a funeral service and for us to have a meal with just the immediate family to celebrate her life and for Luke and I to scatter her ashes where she wished.
So for that reason we would like to ask that if you wanted to do anything for Mum, instead of flowers, we would appreciate you making donations (however small) to this amazing charity to give back even a little of the care we and our lovely Mum received.
All of the staff, whether they were Drs, nurses, care assistants or Domestic assistants, treated Mum, Luke and me like their own family. Kindness, dignity, compassion, caring, and all round amazing.
Mum fought so hard for 7 weeks in hospital and we couldn’t have asked her to do anymore than she did, we’re so proud of her for taking on all that was thrown at her after being diagnosed with bowel cancer in October 2021, especially as anyone that knew her knows of her medical field fears.
Mums last 10 days were spent in Florence Nightingale Hospice. Myself (Laura) and my brother Luke stayed with her the whole time and the hospice were amazing. We were given our own room where Luke and I could stay by Mum’s side, having our own little space and bathroom to use. They also kindly supplied us with all the toiletries we needed and kept Luke and me fed and watered. So giving back to this charity is close to our hearts.
We would also love to read any special memories or words you have for our darling mother as know she touched so many hearts with her funny, caring ways.
We will forever be heartbroken but take peace in knowing she was so loved by us and all who knew her.
Thank you in advance for your words of love, memories and of course any donations however big or small.
With love
Laura, Luke and the rest of the family.
