Story
I am taking part in CFINE's annual fundraiser 'Appetite for Change'. This challenge is to raise awareness of food poverty and insecurity.
The budget for this challenge is: £2 per day for 5 days for all food, drinks and snacks! It's going to be difficult and I will definitely struggle.
Sadly this small budget and daily struggle is the reality for many people of Aberdeen.
This time last year I took part in the same fundraiser as it is an issue which is particularly important to me. People see Aberdeen as an affluent city but the reality is that a huge portion of our communities are living in social and financial crisis and are going without access to regular or nourishing food.
One year later and I now work for CFINE and see first hand on a daily basis the importance of the work they do.
Every penny CFINE make goes back into projects to support the Aberdeen community - they run an emergency food bank, offer financial & budgeting advice and support , free cooking skills & nutrition classes, and opportunities to volunteer - all the while offering dignity and respect to members of the community.
