Yes- its another page asking for your money!
I have signed up to work with the Community Fundraising Team at the Alzheimers Society to run the Oxford Half Marathon in October!
Dementia is a disease of the brain which will impact the lives of 1 in 3 of us. There are many forms of dementia, with the most common be alzheimers disease. It is not a natural part of growing older, and by 2021 there will be over one million people living with dementia here in the UK. My granddad, Dennis (Danny) Atkin lived with dementia for many years before he died in 2010, so we have seen first hand the effect the disease can have on the individual and their family. The Alzheimers Society is the leading support and research charity for people living with dementia, their families and carers, and have the vision of a radically improved world for people living with dementia. Also, as many of you know I've worked for the organisation so I have a teeny tiny soft spot for them!
So enough of the corporate stuff; this is your opportunity to ensure I follow through with my threat of running this thing- once the money starts coming in there's no going back! Now I know its not 7 marathons, in 7 days, in 7 different countries as is the fashion at the moment, but its a blinking long way for someone who has as little legs as me so please do keep that in mind!
Also- if you'd like to come along and cheer me across the line/carry me home on the day that would be warmly welcomed. I would pay you in tea making and hobnobs.
So please do dig deep and donate now!
Much love- the Losmanator Xxxx
