Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Raleigh India JustGiving page.
Let me tell you a little more about this expedition. At the end of January 2011 I am off to India on a 10 week expedition with Raleigh International. Raleigh is a registered charity committed to ensuring its work provides a sustained positive impact to the communities it works in and the participants who volunteer. And the good thing about Raleigh is the money used to pay for an expedition goes to the right places.
What will I be doing on this expedition? It is split into 3 parts; a community project, an environmental project and a personal challenge. The kinds of things I may be doing include physical labour to help with infrastructure construction in small communities, digging elephant-proof trenches in the day before sleeping out in the forest and trekking for 14 days at altitudes of up to 2,500m. The work I will participate in will undoubtedly benefit many people. Yet it is also going to be a huge personal challenge.
Raleigh encourages fund-raising to cover costs for the expedition. I have been lucky enough to be granted a bursary by Raleigh to cover some of the expedition costs but it is up to me to raise another £1000. So thats where you come in!
I am in the process of organising a series of fund-raising events, hopefully to include a pub quiz and a sponsored personal challenge. Yet in the mean time if you can afford to donate to such a worthwhile cause, please use this page to do so. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.
