Story
Let’s try again 2019...
Unfortunately in March 2018 I suffered an Achilles injury, after months on non stop training, which meant I had to defer to 2019 to allow myself the recovery I needed! Luckily my amazing charity supported this.
I’m following a strict 16 week training plan, having regular sports massages, (have the correct footwear), warming up & down... and overall taking the commitment much more seriously this year!
To remind people who were following my training & fund raising last year (thank you!!), I’m running for The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund, which is a small UK charity that raises funds to support young & often disadvantaged aspiring athletes develop & reach their sporting potential.
Interesting Fact: The majority of the 2008, 2012 and 2016 British Olympic athletics teams were supported at some stage by the fund. Including all individual medallists in 2012 and 2016. Mo Farah, Jess Ennis-Hill, Greg Rutherford, Christine Ohuruogu, Goldie Sayers, Robbie Grabarz to name a few.
The London Marathon is the key fundraiser and every penny raised directly supports the future of our sport!!
“Sport is the most precious commodity we have to hand on to the next generation”
Ron Pickering OBE.
...
I would love the support of my friends, family & colleagues on race day as I really do know what I’m up against this time (& I’m terrified!)!!
All donations, no matter how small, will be hugely appreciated...
April 2019 ... I’m coming for you! 👊🏼
Love, Laura xXx
