We raise money for children with cancer to improve their quality of life

Story

Hello my name is Laura Neale. I'm 15 years old and I am going to spend the next year raising as much money as possible for Children With Cancer Fund (Polegate) because they do such a good job supporting children who have been diagnosed with cancer and their families.

On 21st May 2009 my sister Josie was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma - a very rare and hard to treat bone cancer. She was only 12 years old and our family were totally devastated by the news.

Almost immediately we had a phone call from Chris at CWCF to see what they could do to help us. They wanted to know what me and Josie would like as a wish. We wrote a list and within a week we had been given what we asked for!!

Throughout Josie's treatment they kept in touch, wanting to know how things were going and if there was anything else we needed.

Unfortunately Josie lost her brave fight on 7th February 2010 aged just 13 years old. CWCF were there to help again and paid for her funeral without us even knowing.

Since Josie died they have kept in touch and we have been on many family days out with the other CWCF families. They are now like our extended family and we always know that we have someone to talk to who has been through the same experience and who understands what we're talking about.

I am going to do a skydive in 2014 and have lots of other plans for fundraising which I will add to this page when they are finalised.

Please help me to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity.

Thankpyou for reading my story.

About the charity

CWCF was set up in 1998 by Ursula & Chris Downton with Kirsty & James Denny. Now, with the help of other friends and family, we still go out having fun raising funds to grant wishes to families that live in East Sussex, Brighton & Hove and who have children that have been diagnosed with cancer.
