Fundraising for Meningitis Research Foundation
6 weeks after me and Becca started medical school together Becca went into intensive care. At the start of November 2018, She became very ill with meningococcal septicaemia due to bacterial meningitis. This then triggered an acute sepsis infection.
If there's one thing me and Becca had massively in common before this happened it's the strong consistent evasion for anything even slightly related to the gym or long distance running!
Having heard all about the 5 hours of gym a day mon-fri in rehab she now does to have the strength to learn to walk with her new prosthetics, I figured it is only fair for me to stop being bone idle too.
Research into meningitis has saved so many lives so far including one of my best friends' but is still the 6th biggest infectious disease killer in the world. Although massive progress has been made over the past 2 decades, the only way we are going to keep making progress is by supporting charities such as MRF.
