Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I decided to take on the virtual challenge of cycling the distance (874miles) from Land’s End to John o’Groats for 2 reasons :
1) As a personal challenge ‘ in lieu’ of my first full distance triathlon ( Ironman Copehagen) which I should have been completing on 16th August. Due to the COVID situation this just wasn’t mean to be, so instead I’ve decided to do an alternative challenge this month... intentionally timed so that I finish on the 16th August. I will be cycling the 874 miles over a 14 day period, whilst also working full time. I will average 62 miles a day ( that’s about 4 hours on the bike).
2) More importantly though, the main reason for taking on this massive challenge is to raise money to support a charity very close to our hearts. For our close friends who lost their son in May 2020, at just 5 days old.
Frederick "Freddie" Rowan Whewell was born on 24th May 2020. Trauma endured during a non urgent c section resulted in brain damage from severe oxygen deprivation and skull fractures. He was transferred to Bristol NICU where he heartbreakingly passed away 5 days later. Although our friends time with their son was cruelly cut short, the amazing staff at Bristol allowed them to share some wonderful memories with their beautiful baby boy and provided them with accommodation so they could be close to Freddie at all times.
Thank you for supporting my challenge and the wonderful Grand Appeal Charity.
This is for Freddie 💙 xxx
