Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 28th May I’ll be running 26.2 miles in the Edinburgh marathon in memory of my wonderful dad who I lost to suicide in 2016. And also to raise money for Samaritans charity and the work and support they provide for people who need it.
Founded in 1953, 20,000 amazing volunteers give their time to be there to provide support whether it’s phone, email, letter 365 days a week day or night.
They are at the heart of local communities too, working with schools, workplaces, railways, prisons and hospitals to offer training and support, prevent suicide and help people turn their lives around.
And also undertake research into suicide, alongside leading academics, and campaign to get suicide prevention the attention and resource it deserves.
Just to break down how your donation could help:
£10 could answer two calls for help
£24 could help and train a Samaritans volunteer
£41.67 could keep Samaritans phone lines open for 5 minutes
This is going to a big test for me physically and mentally but nothing in comparison to the strength and courage it takes to get yourself out of a dark place and keep going. Love you dad.
Thank you so much
